The hive was like Grand Central Station

"The hive was like Grand Central Station at rush hour. Commuters moving in every direction, purposeful, industrious, and functioning in organized chaos."

Such an eloquent and accurate description of a honey bee hive on a warm summer day.

As 2017 comes to a close, there are countdowns and "best of" lists almost everywhere you look. I am proud to say that my bees made one of those lists!

Every December, Tufts Now publishes an article highlighting the best photos taken by their photographers. This summer, I had the pleasure of working with Tufts Now photographer Anna Miller, who took some amazing photos of me and my bees. This photo of the organized chaos at the hive's entrance was featured in 2017's The Year in Photographs!

To learn more about the bees in this photo, read about how Anna captured this moment, and see other awesome photos taken on Tufts University campuses and beyond, check out the whole article here.

Unless otherwise noted, all photographs are my own. Please feel free to use my photographs in presentations and/or for teaching purposes. I do request that you give credit where credit is due. Thank you!
