Livin' on a Prairie
Just south of Olympia, WA, my new field site is a lively 180-acre prairie. There are queen bumble bees searching for nests, barn swallows doing acrobatics, and some of the strangest flowers I have ever seen. I half expect the Alice-in-Wonderland-esque flowers to break into song.
This week, I had the opportunity to write my second post for Dispatches from the Field. I absolutely love the Dispatches mission to share stories from field biologists around the world, and I am honored to be a part of it! To continue reading about my beautiful field site, fieldwork in a new place, and my first experience in the Pacific Northwest, click here!
Missed my first Dispatches post? Have no fear! You can read about "The Secret Life of Team Honey Bee" here.
p.s. If for some reason you are too young to get my title, you're just not into 80's rock, etc., click here.
As evidenced by this old photo, I am a shameless Bon Jovi fan.
